FAQs

  • The new building will be a vehicle to connect the generations and experience the presence of God. It will be FULL of ministries and events for all generations and backgrounds. We will have the time, the space, the freedom to do all God has been calling us to for over a decade. The current plans call for a children’s wing, media suite, youth room, staff offices, multi-ministry rooms, and an exterior building for a food pantry and community outreach. Perhaps most exciting is having a place for us to worship God in Spirit and truth any time of any day of the week!

  • Nothing is coincidence in the Kingdom! The new location has practical and spiritual value. Located on busy Route 58, thousands of cars pass by this location daily. We pray people passing by will be drawn to the presence of God as we minister to Him first. Virginia Beach Blvd also leads from the original Big House in Norfolk, all the way down to the ocean - a centuries old entry point of revival to Hampton Roads and America at the First Landing.

  • Because Big House at the Open Door will have the space and flexibility needed for ministry and community gatherings, we will no longer hold regular meetings in Norfolk (Noon Prayer, Youth Group, or Living Room).

Big House will always have a heart for Norfolk and we believe God isn’t finished with us there yet!

  • When we meet our Celebration Goal of $1.3 million, we will continue moving forward with our building plans. Even if we do not meet our $2.3 million Dream Goal on June 11, progress will continue at the pace allowed by campaign donations. We will STILL celebrate because our church family would have pledged as much in one day as has been given in any year of Big House history. However, God has ordained this project. He is not short on resources. We believe God will build this house through our obedience. Unless the Lord builds the house, we labor in vain. Join us in believing and praying for well in excess of $2.3 million!

  • The kingdom is built on equal sacrifice, not equal gifts. We will not ask anyone for a specific amount. Give freely as you follow the leading of Holy Spirit. The Bible teaches that the most important thing is to give from a generous heart and not out of obligation or compulsion.
